Frequently Asked Questions:

This guide will answer some of the questions that you may have about our cakes.

How far in advance do I need to order my cake?

We take bookings for cakes from 12 months out, generally for wedding cake 3-6 months is plenty of time, for sculptured cakes & other special occasion cake 1-2 months is normally plenty of time. Be aware however that October through to December is always very busy. We will take cakes at short notice if we can fit them in.

How are cakes priced?

To be able to provide an indication of price for your cake we require more detailed information such as:

  • Date of the event, delivery location & venue
  • The specific design of cake, as prices vary enormously depending upon specific requirements such as flowers, handmade toppers etc.
  • Number of serves required & whether or not it is for dessert or coffee size serves, also need the shape of the cake that you require.
  • Also  look in our extensive online cake galleries to see if there are any designs that you like or if you type the type of cake you are wanting into google images and see if there is any designs that you like & email them through to us.

What is the most cost effective way of having a wedding cake made?

The most cost effective option for your wedding cake is to order an iced undecorated cake as a blank canvas & then put fresh flowers on it yourself. This way you still get an amazing tasting cake but at a very cheap price.   10” + 6” cake will cost $340.00, 12”+ 8” cake will cost $430.00 and a 3 tier cake will cost $530.00 (in round only).

Can we organise a consultation for a Wedding Cake?

Many of our brides organize for a taste testing and consultation, which can be organized by appointment, we are generally able to meet in business hours Monday to Thursday, however we can arrange to meet after hours if these times are not suitable or on a Saturday morning if time permits. Otherwise for a small fee of $22.00 a sampler pack of 5 flavours can be forwarded to you.

Typically the consultation and tasting takes about 30 mins, so make sure that you bring along your designs, colours and idea's. Let us know what day suits you to come out.

What do we need to bring along to the consultation?

Make sure you haven’t eaten too much prior to coming as there is quite a bit of cake to try! Bring along any images of designs that you like preferably printed as opposed to being on your phone. Make sure you know the numbers of serves required & whether or not it is for desert size or coffee size serves. Bring samples of colours that you would like & any ideas that you have to create your masterpiece. Consultations normally take around 30 minutes.

What flavour can my cake be?

Each tier can be a different flavour.

All of our cakes are made from original whole ingredients not commercial packet mix’s. Our most popular flavour cake is Belgian Chocolate Mud, which is an absolutely awesome flavour.

Other delicious cakes that we offer are Peppermint Mud, Caramel Mud, White Chocolate mud,  White Chocolate + Berry Swirl, Choc Orange Jaffa Mud & of course traditional Fruit Cake.

All of our sculptured cakes are made in our delicious Belgian Chocolate Mud Cake which is made from original whole ingredients not commercial packet mix’s, then coated in a chocolate ganache and iced in fondant to create your masterpiece – this is an awesome tasting Mud Cake that both children and adults alike love. It also sculpt’s beautifully and stays lovely and moist.

All of our Mud cakes are undercoated with delicious dark chocolate ganache and then iced and decorated as per your requirements.  Our cakes taste and look sensational.

Can we organise a consultation for a Birthday Cake?

Normally we do not need to meet for designing a special occasion cake, this is done on line via email. If you really want to do a taste testing you can order one of our taster packs at $22.00.

How do we order a cake from you?

Email us through our contact form and let us know that you are happy with the price we have given you.  We will then send you a booking form along with the payment information.

For all Wedding Cakes a non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is required to hold the space for your cake, final balance is due 2 weeks prior to pick-up or delivery.

For all Special Occasion Cakes a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to book your cake in with the balance due 1 week prior.

Note your cake is not booked in until the deposit has been received.

How do we make payment?

We accept payment via direct deposit, credit card (this has a fee of 3% added and is done through paypal, you do not need a paypal account for this option we send you a secure paypal link to put your credit card payment through) or cash. We  also accept cash on pickup or delivery for the balance of the payment if this has been organised.

Let us know which payment method you would prefer.

If I have a Cake booked do I need to contact you prior to the event?

We will email you a couple of weeks out prior to your event to do a final confirmation on everything to do with your cake. If you would like to give us a quick call or email to set your mind at rest that is also OK.

Do you provide delivery for cakes ?

Yes we do. Delivery is on a per Km basis, we normally do this on the day of the event and will touch base with the venue through the week prior to your event. To get an exact price please include your venue address when you request a quote.

We are also happy for you to pick-up your own cake but you should ensure that you have enough flat space + a very good air-conditioner. Pick-up can be either the afternoon before or on the morning of. If you require a cake for the Sunday that we are not delivering you will need to pick this up on the Saturday morning.

How do I best store my cake at home?

You should store your cake in a cool air-conditioned room away from any open windows. Up high enough that children’s probing fingers can’t get into it. Once your cake is cut the remainders should be stored in the fridge or frozen to eat later.

What is the best way to keep the top tier of my wedding cake?

When you bring your cake home remove all  the decoration and wrap the cake firmly in 2 layers of cling wrap and then place in the freezer. Your cake should keep for 12 months - bring the cake out of the freezer the day before you require it and let it sit at room temperature until the following day, it will look quite wet but leave it alone and the condensation will evaporate.

Do you cater for people with allergies?

Yes please advise at the time what you are allergic to and we will quote your cake accordingly ie gluten free, dairy free and even if necessary egg free.
